The Back Story
SLCKR got its start in a university dorm room in 2020. Co-founder Tyler Tracy began cutting hair at university to make some extra money on the side. His business partner and co-founder Ben Johnson was one of his earliest clients. “I’d head over and get a cheap haircut in Tyler’s bathroom. We’d chat about our ideas post university and taking a non-traditional career route was always in discussion.”
Tracy continued to cut hair during school and over the summers in Philadelphia. As he became more active in the social media world of barbering, he saw an opportunity. “I saw a lot of barbers who shared similar interests outside of barbering. There was a big interest in fashion and in culture that I didn’t feel was being catered to by current products in the industry. Most of the barber wear offerings seemed quite dated.” With this opportunity in mind, Tracy started working on product concepts and reached out to Johnson to come on board and help with scaling the business side of things.
Now, just over 2 years since their launch, SLCKR has over 1,000 customers across 13 countries. They have solidified their place in the industry with a growing community of users and several high profile collaborations. From a limited edition release with Sharp Fade that sold out in 24 hours, to partnering with Byrd Mena at Rise of Hair, to an upcoming Illuzien collaboration, SLCKR has made its mark early on. “We’re really excited for what’s to come. We have several product releases coming up this year and we can’t wait to continue doing our part in growing and elevating this amazing industry.”

Q: How does this help me cut faster?
A: Each time you replace and retrieve a tool, you are wasting time. You must turn to replace the current tool, locate the next, retrieve it, and start cutting again. With the nature of short cuts, we are replacing and retrieving tools hundreds of times throughout a cut. These seconds add up to minutes, minutes to hours, and so on and so forth. With The Rig, you know exactly where your tools are and you won’t even have to think! It becomes muscle memory. We find our customers saving 5-10 minutes per haircut on average.
Q: How do you clean the Rig?
A: We recommend sanitizing The Rig with a 1:1 solution of water and 80% Isopropyl alcohol. After tools are removed and excess debris is brushed off of The Rig, spray the solution generously across the surface and inside the pockets of The Rig. Let evaporate for 1 minute before placing sanitized tools back in.

These may include two shears, a clipper comb, a scissor comb, 4 clipper guards, a razor, a fade brush, a clipper, and a trimmer.
