Coloured Hair for Men: The Biggest Trends For 2022

Over the last few years, coloured hair for men has seen a significant increase with more and more gentlemen stepping out of their comfort zone to experiment with the trend. And already in 2022, we have seen numerous occasions where A-list, male celebrities have revealed their own twist on grooming.

The 2022 Grammy Awards featured many male artists with coloured hair, with Balvin, The Kid Laroi and Diplo all rocking up with blue hair. Not only did this set the tone for the rest of the year, but it also led to a 120% increase in the search term ‘hair colour for men’ on Google.

Therefore, with all of that being said, the experts at Chris & Sons have rounded up their top hair colour predictions for the second half of 2022.

Icy Silver Blonde Hair For Men

Silver/icy blonde hair has been a growing trend for men over the past few years after it stormed into the fashion world with a modern take. Since then, male actors, musicians and other celebrities have been seen rocking the controversial hair colour.

While most mature men don’t shy away from their greying locks, more and more younger people are deliberately dyeing their manes in ashy shades to keep up with the growing trend. Not only this, but the hair colour is perfect for all men, whether you have a light or dark complexion.

However, if you want to achieve this look, it’s probably a good idea to start with dying your hair grey. And, if you really want to go for the wow factor, we would recommend booking an appointment with a high-skilled colourist. Although the internet makes it look super easy, achieving an icy silver blonde or grey hair colour is something best left to professionals. Furthermore, grey is one of the hardest colours to mimic as it is actually hair with no pigment or melanin.

Finally, once you have achieved your desired colour, next you have to think about the cut. To really pull off this look the right cut makes all the difference as you’ll want it to look trendy and fashionable. Play around with different lengths and styles mixing them together. Short grey hairstyles can be complemented with a side or hard part while long ones look amazing with a fade or undercut.

Blue Hair For Men

Following the successful response to Balvin, The Kid Laroi and Diplo all rocking up with blue hair to this year’s Grammys, we predict that men everywhere will be jumping on this trend by the end of the year and into 2023.

Blue hairstyles are hot right now, with more and more men trading their dull, boring colours for something a little more striking, fun and eccentric. There are so many ways to rock this latest trend, whether it’s just some low-key highlights or even a bold full-head makeover.

However, if you are considering the blue hair look, we suggest carefully considering the cut and style that will look best for you to go along with your new colour. Your professional colourist and stylist should be able to help you with this decision to make sure the final look is one that really suits you.

If you are thinking about colouring your hair blue, you’ve got a choice between a temporary or semi-permanent dye. Temporary dyes do exactly what they say they will. They are generally easy to wash out and are short-lived. The benefit of this option is that you don’t have to commit fully to the colour. If you want it for one-night-only, you can simply apply it a couple of hours before the event and wash it out when you get home.

However, if you are looking to rock the colour for a little longer, you’ll probably want to opt for a semi-permanent or permanent blue hair dye. A semi-permanent blue dye can last for several weeks, while a permanent blue dye can last for a few months.

Red & Orange Hair For Men

From shades of startling red to hues of vivid tangerine, red and orange hair is really having a comeback this year. Although the hair colour trend has been around for some time, this new modern take has re-launched it right back into the fashion scene.

Men with medium and fair skin are the ideal candidates for this hair colour. However, men with warmer and slightly darker skin tones can also wear this colour, but they must choose a deeper shade of red to make their hair stand out.

And if you want to take this trend to the next level and try something a little more edgy, why not try mixing intense shades of red, orange, and yellow will help you get a fiery ombre. On the flip side, you could opt for a burnt orange tone combined with a mullet haircut for a refreshingly modern look.
